Word Press is a fantastic tool to use for sharing your blogs and allowing people to see what your business is all about. It allows you to provide an insight into your services/products that can be lost when you simply post blogs on various websites. Slow databases are a nightmare and if your queries get backlogged then worst case scenario is that your account may get suspended if you exceed your CPU quota. Not only does this make your frustrated but it also annoys your site visitors who want to read your blogs. The outcome; miserable people all round!
You can improve the loading speed of blogs on shared hosting websites but before you begin to do anything, make sure that you back up all of your Word Press files first.
1) Avoid widgets in your sidebar
Try to use pure code in your sidebar and although this sounds like hard work it is actually very simple. You can find examples of codes by researching and you can use these for tags, posts, categories and many more along your sidebar so you don’t have to use widgets.
2) Only use plug-ins that are necessary
You can get a faster loading speed with the fewer plug-ins you have so get rid of any plug-ins that are not needed for your posts.
3) Get rid of post revisions!
Post revisions are good for building up your database but there is no need to swamp it.
4) Delete extra tables from your Word Press database
Extra tables are those that are not being used by the pug-ins and they should be deleted. Extra tables are created when you install and un-install plug-ins and as this is often done on a regular basis, they extra tables can quickly rack up.
5) Optimise your Word Press DB
Go to your admin page and click on your database to check your tables and then go to the drop down menu and click on ‘repair’. Then click on the database and check all of the table again and when you now go to the drop down menu you can select ‘optimise’.
6) Use HTML instead of PHP wherever possible
Whenever your blog page loads up (so when someone wants to read it) if you have PHP your blog will take longer to load up. It sends out many requests that simply take time to handle with PHP so it works far quicker and easier if you just change them to static HTML codes instead.
