Multilingual SEO

There is huge debate surrounding the need to improve page rankings by making your website multilingual and there is no definite answer, which makes it the perfect subject to discuss. On-topic links that appear in different languages can be helpful as far as search engine optimisation purposes go as can links from specific language websites. Almost any link is a good link but there are many links that are far more beneficial than others.

Link farms and  ways of purchasing links hold little value but they still hold some and unless the website form which the link originates is truly despicable, then there should be some worth to the majority of links. Basically if you can get a link from a website that is in a different language then not only will you appeal to small audience but you will benefit from the link anyway. Another great reason to still use links that are on foreign language websites or that appear in another language is that Anglicisms tend to appear in many languages meaning that as far as SEO goes, the search engines may well pick up on some keywords that you wouldn’t even think about. For example the phrase SEO is used in the Spanish language and therefore a link from a website about SEO in Spanish will still by keyword rich and relevant to your website.

As well as multiple language  keywords and  link worth, you can always include a bilingual link. If there is a link of a French website that links to an English website that is about restaurant jobs then it could read ‘Emplois restaurant jobs’.  That way it is still keyword relevant and actually fairly simple for someone who speaks little English to fathom out. Search engines can even relate to some cross language subjects and themes and next time you are looking at a website for car accessories or a hotel websites (both of which there are thousands) there will often be another language option to choose. Search engines are clever and can detect patterns in SEO and they will notice the overlap in sections.

Also have a think about the amount of bilingual people that there are in the world. The UK is a nation of people who are notorious for not learning other languages as English of often the first language for many but for the majority of other country’s in Europe, their nationals must learn English in order to communicate outside of their country. With as many multilingual people out there as there are that means that inevitably many people will be interested in clicking on the link to a different language website.

If the word links and keywords are foreign to you then don’t worry as here at the UK SEO Agency we are happy to help everyone to benefit from our experienced services in the field of SEO, whether or not you fully understand the meaning behind the jargon or not. Why Should You Build Up Your Links On A New Site?

First things first……why would you want to build links to a website that is not yet up and running? Simple, by the time your website is ready to go live you will have gained yourself a head start on your rankings by hitting the ground running so to speak. If a website will take you a few months to get up and running then what better way to give it the ultimate chance of early success than by focusing on your search engine optimisation strategy?

The second thing to think about is who and why would anyone want to link to a website that is not live? Again the answer is the most obvious one; no one would. So you have to link yourself to your webpage. Confused? You won’t be for long. There are a few ways in which you can become your own best linker.

1. Write articles and send them off to article directories and expert websites and it will then allow you to place a link in the resource box, where of course you link to your so far dormant website. If your article is useful and interesting most websites will use it providing you with many places to add links.

2. Social networking sites can be more than just a good chance to nosy at what other people are doing and can be used as a way to build up your links. The more friends that you can make and the more items you vote in, inevitably the more link juice you gain on your profile. LinkedIn and Squidoo are both perfect for SEO and Facebook is also good but MySpace holds no purpose (as yet) for SEO.

3. You can set up blogs by using sites like Blogspot and there are endless amounts of smaller websites that also allow you to do this. This is similar with the social networking website advice and the key to being successful with your link building and blogging is to network, network, network.

It is possible to build up countless links before the website goes live and the key to it is using the power of content generated by users on various websites. As with many things though there are a few setbacks.

1. It takes hard work as the content you place on other sites must be quality content as the better the quality of the articles, the more links you can obtain.

2. You can add a homepage that works as an interim homepage before the website is totally ready but the domain needs to be live in order to do this.

It is not the ideal situation to be in as a live website is far better than one that is in the process but give yourself a head start and start link building and by the time your website is up and fully functioning; you can get to work on the real process of link building.

How Does Google Measure Your Link Popularity?

By now, many of us will understand the importance of using links as a way of getting ranked by Google by how does Google use our links to decide where on the search pages our websites will show up? As with the whole world of SEO, it is complex but there are a few simple tricks that Google use that are easy to explain.

Google, and indeed many other search engines, place the quality and quantity of inbound links to a web page in high regard. The popularity from other websites linking to your website is one of the primary factors that Google base their page ranking system on.  It is becoming more important than ever to ensure you attract quality inbound links as well as many and at the UK SEO agency, we understand and apply all of the different search engine optimisation strategies to benefit your website.

With link popularity playing such a vital role in SEO, it is vital to use it to your full advantage and this is only possible if you understand what link popularity is. It is basically defined as the number of websites that provide their web traffic with links to your website. Some websites will boast thousands of inbound links and other will only have a few. However, this has recently changed since the search engines can now also see the quality of the inbound links and will only include them as a valid link on their page ranking technique if it has come from a valuable source.

The search engines then use the amount of quality inbound links that your websites has to measure how popular your website is and this will then help to rank your website. Professional in the SEO business will comprehend that where the links came from is just as important as how many your site has. A good example of this if you have a travel website that boasts thousands of links from beauty product websites they will be deemed as poor inbound link sources. So, the algorithms used will also rank the relevancy of the website links meaning that it is essential to use real link sources and not go through farms and FAA pages.

In order for Google to rank your website by its link popularity it must also check out the keyword content on the page that has been linked to. An example of this is if you own a website that sells ladies clothes the links from other websites should not just have the keywords ‘ladies clothes’ but they should have various keywords relating to the phrase like skirts, dresses, handbags etc. If the inbound link sources simply have ladies clothes as the keyword, Google will deem this unusual and your popularity score will suffer.
