Google’s New Search Version

August 26, 2009

We all have heard through the media about the Yahoo and Microsoft partnership for search project. Before the Yahoo and Microsoft search partnership, Microsoft spent a lot of time developing and improving Bing. With the competition heating up between the web technologies of today competition is becoming tougher – Facebook bought FriendFeed, The Yahoo and Microsoft partnership as well as other online developments

Google will not easily let Microsoft Bing steal its market shares.  Google’s new project is to update of their Google Search facilities.  This project is not just a simple update of the current search engine but a new infrastructure for the world’s largest search engine.  This will be the “Next generation architecture for Google’s Web Search” – According to Google’s Matt Cutts.

The New Google Search facility  is still under development, although Google is already assured with the success of the this project. In fact, they have already released the development version for the public.  The goal of Google in creating a newer version of their search engine is to improve the indexing, accuracy, size and comprehensiveness.

The new Google Search project only reminds us that although there have been recently a lot of changes in the search engine industry, Google won’t let their competition steal some of their market shares  and will intend to fight for it. There have already been reviews made in the development version of the New Google Search and it already got a few positive responses. Many of the responses are that the search is not only faster but it is more likely to produce real- time results. However, it is still early to have such conclusions. Let us wait for the full update of the all new Google Search.

Google’s step  has opened up better opportunities in the search engine industry. Competition between Google and the Yahoo- Microsoft partnership can result in quality, faster, relevant and reliable search engines. Users are the primary beneficiaries of the developments and competitions of these huge web technology companies. Competition between these companies improves overall searching and indexing online.

With developments within the seach engines, let us prepare ourselves for newer search engine techniques.  With such competition between Google and Yahoo- Microsoft  the common denominator between them is that  both search engines aims to deliver better search and indexing capabilities to Internet users.  Delivering Internet search satisfaction to every user.

You may have exerted a lot of time and effort on your search engine optimisation campaign, a lot of website owners who decide to do their SEO in-house spend a lot of resources doing so. However what if one day you have found out that your website traffic suddenly dropped and you got any clue as why? Such can be a very frustrating situation, thinking about the time and effort that you have exerted.

From time to time you may find that your website’s traffic may drop slightly, this can be down to various reasons.  which may be caused due to the situations you often neglect. For instance you may be focused on other important matters on your search campaigns. Technical issues within your website may be another reason for the dropping of your website traffic statistics.  Factors or problems within your website are easier to fix and these are the things that you should often keep an eye on.

Google is very strict when implementing their search guidelines; if your site does not abide or follow their guidelines then you need to be prepared for the consequences.

Many website owners tend to neglect duplicate content on their website, Google’s search guidelines are strongly against duplicate content. Google views duplicate content as being intended to manipulate the search engine spiders which will result in a website being penalised. Google’s spiders may recognise your intentions of having a duplicate content. They have certain algorithms that are specifically do this job. It is best not to have any duplicate content in your website, as this may also cause confusion to your visitors.  Your optimisation activities may cause duplicate content in your website  due to the presence of old URLs  with the updated ones.  You may use 301 redirect, however there are circumstances that it may not work . One  example is when you are using CMS to manage your website and it does not allow you to use 301 redirect codes.  There are certain ways to have 301 redirect work on your website.

Another possible cause of a websites traffic drop may be due to links,  it is important to ensure all your websites inbound and external links are working properly, after you have updated or changed your website in any way.  You should also ensure that the architecture of your website is intact and the addresses you have changed are updated with  the search engines.

It is important to bear in mind that a slight drop in traffic is normal, especially within websites that have recently began its optimisation campaign. It will take some time for search engines to evaluate and analyse your website after making some changes or updates on it. This usually takes around two weeks for both Google and  Yahoo. A slight drop in traffic is normal and wont have a serious effect. However,  if in two weeks time when traffic rate is still low you just need to re-evaluate the situation.  Or better yet, seek professional advice from The UK  SEO Agency.

Does Your SEO Consultant Have A Degree In BS?

There are many right and wrong ways of applying search engine optimisation and there are also many good and bad techniques. By right and wrong I simply mean successful and useless SEO but by good and bad I am talking about the companies and individuals who work legitimately and those who apply unethical techniques to their SEO strategies.  Knowing the difference between a company who is offering SEO that will get you the results you need and one that will get you high up by then let you slip back down is the first step towards a good plan but the most important part is how they make your website climb the rankings. There are countless rules and regulations and unfortunately just as many cowboys who are happy to break them.

The search engines themselves are in a continuous battle with search engine optimisers and are always coming up with new ways to make us work harder to get the desired results. Google’s algorithms are becoming more and more intelligent and are starting to think and process SEO like a human rather than a computer; continuously making SEO a more and more in-depth process. This makes it even more essential to get a SEO company or individual who not only understands the process buy who also applies it properly.

Some search engines feel that paid links are similar to spam as they are not genuine, meaning your content may not be genuinely relevant to whatever cause it is aimed at. Boosting your PageRank can be done without purchasing links and your website will be held in a much higher regard if you can do this ethically. Try to choose links that are a mix of paid and genuine so that you don’t wave a red flag at the search engines that screams spam and only use good links that are relevant as this is what linking is all about. The search engines will not demote your website from its rankings simply for purchasing a link or two that are relevant but it will penalise you if you if you attempt to buy to re-arrange the listings.

For every good SEO consultant there are at least as many incompetent ones and I would go as far to call some of them down right dishonest. One of the few problems with the Internet is that it allows people to be whoever and whatever they claim to be and that means scammers can get anonymity and play the part of a perfectly competent SEO specialist. Anonymity doesn’t make scamming people right and the freedom of the Internet does not make it OK to promise people ethical SEO and provide them with sub-standard services.

Here at the UK SEO agency we provide our customers with everything that they could possibly need from an SEO service. Honesty ranks highly amongst our offerings as does continual feedback and client liaising and of course an overall finished product with your website boasting continually high rankings.
