Is Social Media For My Business?

Social Media has been a recent trend for many online business, it has been also used as a tool to optimise websites or web pages. Due to social sites popularity many people sign up to them to launch their blogs. Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular social media sites available today. This encourages many businesses to implement a social media campaign for their Website.

Is social media right for your business? Unfortunately this question is neglected by many online businesses. A blog is a great way to deliver information about your products and services to both current and potential customers. However, you need to consider if your costumers are also reading blogs. You might be focusing more of marketing your product and services in Facebook when most of your costumers are on Twitter.

The best way of knowing if social media is for your business is to monitor what your current and potential customers are saying and trace where they are saying it. By monitoring your current and potential customers you will have an idea of your customer’s interests or need and where they are saying it. There are different tools on the web that can help you monitor the relevant business and industry terms on social media channels.

Knowing what your current and potential customers are into via social media will give you much better idea of whether or not you should be using social media as a tool to deliver your business information to them. And base on your monitoring research, if your current or potential customer is using a certain social media tool for your business or industry then you should probably need to use the tool as well.

Research and monitoring will guide you in making a decision whether you will be using social media or not. There are various Social Media tools that you can use for your online marketing campaign. Social Media has a lot to offer especially to online entrepreneurs. It opens up the channels of communications between entrepreneurs and customers and of course it delivers significant traffic to your website. Social Networking Websites

With an increasing number of people accessing the Internet for social and recreational use it is not surprising that there has been an increase in social networking sites such as Facebook and Digg. These sites give people the opportunity to not only chat online, but actively interact with one another. For instance Facebook allows you to send gifts to your friends, or play games, answer quizzes all at the click of a mouse button. Digg is a popular networking site where users share their favourite articles, while discussing thoughts and opinions. Networking websites bring people together across the world, allowing them to share views, catch up, and discuss interesting topics Online. Facebook has reunited family and friends across the globe, it is one of the most visited websites on the Internet.

Some people believe that social networking websites are the “Big Brother Phenomenon,” a medium used to spy on people, keeping an eye on their actions. I have recently read an article relating to a young girl who expressed on Facebook that  she found her work to be boring.  Her employers read the comment and as a result ceased her employment. It is best to bear in mind when communicating on networking sites, to be vigilant, you never know who is reading. For instance as a business owner, you would not reveal your business intentions on a networking site, as your competitors may be reading.

Even so, networking websites are a good business  promotional tool - For instance if your business is within the car industry, you could visit the many car related networking sites and forums, taking part in the industry related conversations. Providing help and advise to fellow forum members will increase your networking trust, you can then move on to promoting your products/services. Business networking sites can be extremely useful at bringing in new business, and initialising essential contacts.

To conclude networking websites are excellent for building new business relationships and trust, whilst promoting the products/services you provide. Although it is important to remember,  if you are acting on behalf of your company to maintain a level of professionalism. It may be wise to have a separate business and social account, especially on Facebook - For instance you may not want your potential customers to view the banter between you and your old Uni friends. My advice in this case is to keep business, business and social, social.
