Planning Your Blog To Perfection

Planning ahead is a major part of search engine optimisation as SEO is a long process and looking ahead is the only way to make an SEO strategy successful. Plan your blog process and work out when you want to post a new blog, where and what you want your blogs to be about and that makes it far easier to complete the blogs. Sometimes it can be hard to find the spare time to complete a blog but if you know how many you need to complete per month and set yourself a target for particular days you will find it easier to find the time to do them.

It will be even simpler to complete them if you have a plan on what they should be about as well. Every month you should sit down and create a brainstorm on what you should write about and that way when it comes to writing you won’t spend half a day trying to come up with a subject. It is important to learn the basics about blogging before attempting to use it as a means of earning money or promoting a business (which will in turn earn more money).

Choose the right way to set it up, design it well, use SEO to make it successful, write content that interests people, advertise and market your blog and finally expand your blogs. Vary your themes and the topics of your blogs to generate a wider range of traffic to your site. Always remember that it is not only about pulling people in you want to pull them in and keep them coming back as one-time site visitors are of no benefits to you whatsoever. Plan ahead each month and set aside a day at the end of the month to create a brainstorm about what you will write about for the coming month and when.

Use topics that are up to date and much talked about and push people for responses and reactions. This can be done in both a positive and negative way and if you choose to goad your readers into a reaction by creating a blog that you know will get a response then you must take care not to simply annoy people and turn them away from your blogs. There is a fine line between creating a good and responsive blog and one that just makes people click back out of your website and mastering this technique should only be considered after you have mastered how to write ‘normal’ blogs.

Guest blogging can also work as a way to increase your traffic and when you have successfully created a regular set of site visitors, you know that you are doing something right. Blogs are a trciky yet important part of SEO and here at the UK SEO Agency we understand exactly how to use them to their ultimate potential. Please get in contact with use for more information.

There are a few tricks of the trade when it comes to writing successful search engine optimised news articles and if they are written correctly and distributed well then news articles can become a very intricate part of an SEO strategy. As we all know, search engine optimisation is a complex thing and it is made up from many different components, all of which play their own role and news articles that are up to date can be a major factor in an SEO campaign. Here are a few things that you should always do when creating news within your plan.

1. Do not disrupt the text: Keep the body of the article intact and only use adverts and banners on the side or at the bottom and avoid placing them in the middle of paragraphs.

2. Think about your title: Interesting titles make a difference so put a little thought into a title. Include keywords for the search engines and a catchy header for the human reader.

3. URLs: If you use URLs that are permanent and have at least three digits, Google and the other search engines will know that the page contains an up to date article and is not simply a static HTML page.

4. Use dates correctly: Place the date in the middle of the title and the main text (the body) so the search engines will know how recent the article is. This will also aid the reader as one of the most irritating things when it comes to looking at articles is trying to find the date it was published.

5. News sitemaps: Using a news sitemap will help you with the search engines as the spiders looking for news can find your article and can then crawl it again 12 hours later to look for any updates. Sitemaps also contain meta data, like the keywords and phrases, date of publication etc, and all of this is used by the search engines when they rank you on the relevance of your article.

6. Write about unique subjects: C is for Content! Make sure that your stories are catchy, informative, interesting and if possible unique. Whatever type of publishing you are doing, whether it be online or in the press, content is the most important aspect. If you are writing about the same things as everyone else then you must make yours stand out more than theirs.

These are just a few of the most obvious tips and pointers and there are many, many more. Dealing With Changes In Rankings

September 12, 2009

Search engine ranking is one important aspect of any search engine optimisation campaign. The use of the World Wide Web has become increasingly important in generating revenue not only to individuals but as to businesses as well. Search engines are one of the tools being used to achieve online business goals and higher revenue. Thus, search engine rankings are essential.

Search engine rankings change constantly, they can change for one out of several reasons. Your site may lose or gain rankings because of algorithm changes or maybe a site is added or removed in the search engine’s index  and or maybe due to an added or dropped link.  Some changes in rankings may be traced because of a particular event or while others may occur for what it seem like no particular reason at all.  But changes in rankings happen because change is constant and it happens regularly in search engines.

By understanding and learning the typical loss of rankings of your website can give us a better idea why there is such a movement or changes in the search engine rankings.  And will also help you in preventing serious drop in your rankings.  Although we cannot prevent search engine rankings from dropping, understanding the reasons why changes occur can at least help your search engine rankings stable.  The changes that  we are talking about may be narrowed down into three basic events first is your website changes, second is your competitor’s site changes and the lastly is the search engine algorithm changes. These are just the three major changes but  several other instances and events may occur also. Dealing with them is the best way to have a stable position in search engine rankings.

Most businesses makes changes or updates their websites frequently to be in current.  There are a lot of things you can do to update your website whether it is removing or adding a product, changing prices,  removing out-dated information, posting a blog, adding information and even having an overhaul update or redesign of your website.  These changes may seem minor to your website, but remember they can affect significantly your search engine rankings.  Don’t make drastic changes in your website unless you really need to, and if so you may need to consult your SEO provider.  When making changes on your website always consider your rankings and our search engine optimisation efforts.  Don’t make changes with things that you aren’t knowledgeable of, consult and  your SEO provider first.

Another factor that can change your search engine ranking is the changes made with your inbound links  or backlinks.  Technically, changes  on your inbound links are affected by changes made by website linking to yours.  Unfortunately, unlike with changes made within your website you don’t have any control with it.  But this does not mean that you cannot do anything to prevent such event.  Drastic changes in your rankings are rare if you are using natural links. Unless you are using paid or bartered links then there would be a significant change in your rankings for these large number of paid links are appears and disappears. To deal with this,  I don’t recommend you buying links. Work on your links naturally. Create more relevant content, people will find it useful and would like to link with you or share it.

Your server downtime can also affect your search engine rankings. Server downtime means that your website is inaccessible making it difficult for search engines to crawl. This would not have any long term effect on your rankings unless such event happen more often. How to deal with this? Simple. Find a reliable web host provider that delivers very minimal server downtime.

But can we ever deal with changes made in search engine algorithms? Change is constant with search engines.  However, to deal with such changes with search engine algorithm all you need to do is to be updated on what is happening in the search engine industry.
