Software As A Service – An SEO’s perspective

April 6, 2009

Software as a Service, is the software deployment technique which allows you to deploy a system on demand. A technique which is especially useful for websites. There are dozens of companies offering this as a service on the internet, and as an SEO Agency we usually find ourselves finding work arounds for such systems, and unfortunately the workaround was usually to create a brand new website for a client, at a significant cost to the client. This is a cost the client should have to pay, and we have vowed to improve this!

Throuh this line of work, we have recently been developing many websites for clients, and if you have been following us on twitter(@UKSEOAGENCY) you may have noticed we spend a considerable amount of our time working on clients websites as you would expect. However in the past 3 months we have also been working on a tool to allow us to host many websites cheaply, implementing a system which encompasses the SEO Principles we work on from the blank sheet we started from.

Our SaaS CMS has taken all we have learned from our competitors products in the past 12 months, and improved upon it, we will soon be launching our own site based upon this very system for the world to see, and with packages starting at only £8 per month! We believe this is a truly unbeatable offer for what is a search engine optimised site from the ground up, add a good sprinkling of keyword density and the correct linking package and you will find your site listing for the keywords you target!

Our SaaS Content Management System is ideal for your brochure site, or basic lead generation site and allows you to upload images, create pages and pull down/flyout menu’s (*should template allow), as well as control not only the file names, but the anchor text to the pages, the meta tags as well as the page titles. You also have the power to install any tracking you so require, as well as the legendary support we provide. As an ever evolving system, any feature which you suggest will go into a queuing system to be developed  – should the demaind be in place the development will be free of charge, Simply included as part of your monthly software update!

If done correctly, SaaS CMS’s can be key for SEO. Unfortunately there are many solutions on the internet where the basics are not in place, and without the basics how can a site hope to have any chance of search engines rankings?  Quite simply it makes it an extremely difficult proposition, our system resolves all of these issues and empowers you to build your business!

What Is A CMS

CMS stands for Content Management System within the internet marketing world. This is basically an editor that you can log into to change the content, Meta Tags and other text and images on a website. This means that you can edit a website from anywhere you have internet access.

Do I need a CMS?

This is a question often asked by our clients. This answer depends entirely how your website works and the changes made. Personally I think a CMS is the way forward as it saves time and unnecessary phone calls to Web Developers and SEO Programmers to change a word that you’re not entirely happy with or a product description that has changed.

If you have a website that is constantly changing then in this day and age a CMS should be implemented. Even if the website is not always changing then the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages of having a CMS.

How does a CMS work?

A CMS can work in two different ways. For the most part CMS’ work by having an admin section, a database and then a front end. Any changes made in the admin section update the database. Due to the fact the front end of the website pulls information in from the database this enables the website to be edited at any point in time with the few clicks of a button. Any changes made are then instantly seen once the web page is refreshed.

Can a CMS be built into my original website?

In short yes; If you have a website with a CMS then you can easily have one incorporated. What will happen is that a template will be made and then all current content will be transferred into the database. The admin section will then be created so you can edit whichever pages you like as and when they need to be changed.

Do the benefits outweigh the cost?

In most cases yes they do. For a one off payment you get total control of your websites content, images and Meta Tags. The time spent to call your web developer/SEO programmer and the time it can take for them to change content can be very hi and miss. It could take them half an hour to get round to it or it may be the next week all depending on their workload.
