Writing a WordPress Theme

July 14, 2011

If you have recently installed WordPress as a blogging section on your website, you may have noticed that the themes used automatically can be quite random and unrelated. You can change this however by personalising your theme to one that suits the theme of your website.

Changing the theme of WordPress can be done in two ways, the first by browsing online and downloading and using a ready made theme. There are many pre-made themes available online so there is a good chance you could find a theme that would suit the general theme of your website. There are both free themes and themes that require payment available online.

If you’d prefer to write your own theme in order to really personalise the theme to your website, that is possible. By writing your own theme you are able to use images and logos that maybe you already have on your site or that you feel would fit in with the general theme of your site.

By changing the theme of WordPress you are then able to add your own links to the navigation, change the header and footer, etc. which would all personalise your blog and make readers believe they’re reading something relevant to what they want to be reading about.

Here at UK SEO Agency we are able to change the theme of your WordPress blog to suit your website. We can either download and install a ready made theme or write you your own theme, completely personalised to your site, its entirely your choice!

Installing WordPress

Here at UK SEO Agency, WordPress is our blogging tool of choice as the way it works is very SEO friendly. When creating a new website that requires a blog, we need to install WordPress which may sound like a time consuming process but is actually rather quick and easy.

To install WordPress, we first needed to go to www.wordpress.org and click download in the top right corner, then download again in the blue link. When the download process was finished. We then had to extract to a local folder and upload using our ftp programme. This then created a database providing the relevant forms we needed to complete. After filling these forms in and customising the site to how we want it, WordPress was then installed successfully and is ready to use.

That shows just how easy it was to install WordPress, the hardest part of the process was finding a subject to blog about!

Blogging is a popular thing to have on your site as it allows bloggers to research and learn more about the topic they’re writing about. By writing about what you’ve been doing within the day, you’re helping yourself memorise everything better, plus its something to refer back to if you’re ever unsure.

Users can also make comments on your blog if they have anything to add or simply to say they agree with what you wrote.

If you like a blogging page installed on your website, why not fill out our enquiry form and we’ll be happy to help get you started with your blogging.

Hustle your way to better rankings!

February 8, 2010

Hard work is essential to any successful SEO campaign but hustling is just as essential and a hard trait to perfect! Anyone can put hard work in as your determination levels are somewhat of your own making but being able to hustle well is a totally different skill and it is a vital on if you wish to succeed in business (especially the competitive online space).

I am a hustler as well as a hard worker but I will be hustling my way through 2010 in ways that I never dreamt possible in 2009 as the internet competition intensifies and gets harder to win. The subtle difference between working hard and being a hustler is an important one. If you work hard then put in long hours at the expense of your own social or family time, you persist when things are looking down and you keep yourself determined and focused on the job in hand. These are all vital skills to have but there are ways to add to these skills to make sure that your hard work is not for nothing.

In comparison, hustling is about ensuring that the time you put into your projects is not wasted, that you make sure that if you work a 16-hour day then you will see results at the end of the day. You don’t just work hard and expect things to happen because you worked overtime or during a family birthday party, you still have to actually make it happen. Getting your results and accomplishing your goals is the work of a successful hustler not just a hard worker.

The trick is to understand you can’t get one without the other. You need to be able to work hard to be a hustler but you also need to hustle to make sure your hard work pays off so you can’t have your bread without your butter. You can nearly always be better than you are and whether or not last year saw good results this year has the potential to see better and with a little bit of hustle in your step you may just make the transition from hard worker to hustler. Hustling on the internet by demanding results will see 2010 be a better year than ever and aiming high and achieving a lot is the sign of a successful hustler.

Saying you will try and achieve your goals is the motto of a hard worker but saying you will achieve you goals is the saying of a hustler. At the UK SEO Agency we work hard and we hustle hard meaning our services are unmatched in the sector.
